Abstract

Film Genres in Hungarian and Romanian Cinema: History, Theory, Reception marks the differences in the ways genre theory and criticism are used in contemporary Eastern European small national cinemas. Andrea Virginás is eager to discuss and problematise the convergence of the art and the popular in national cinemas. What is more, she proposes a new approach, perspective, and tools to deal with issues some scholars have overlooked as too challenging.
