Abstract

Over the seventy-year history of Soviet rule, Tajik and Central Asian storytelling was moulded by a state-regulated national policy, serving the interests of Moscow. Through some personal observations, this essay discusses the challenges a Central Asian artist faces finding an original voice within a global film industry.
